Tess and Alexander’s relationship has probably been my most favorite story arc ever on Smallville. Every scene centered around the two of them was so heartfelt and emotional that it was hard to even imagine not crying to them all. The relationship that Tess and Alexander developed was an un-intentional mother/son relationship. Alexander started off as just being a project that Tess accidentally discovered but as time went by, she watched him grow and had no choice but to serve as a mother for him even though he was technically a clone of her half-brother. Eventually it became clear that they truly had a mother/son relationship when time after time, Tess put his safety before herself and did everything in her power to keep him safe. Even though Tess never was able to live out her life and have any children of her own, I will always consider Alexander one of her children. Even with her gone, I am hopeful that Alexander still considers Tess to be the closest thing that he could ever have to a parental figure because she made sure that he didn’t end up like her brother, and was able to live his life without any of the hardships that she had to go through. She was able to do what every parent wants for their children, to have a better life than they did.
